It is important to choose the right model so that a telescopic runner can fully unfold its advantages. Telescopic slides - the difference to linear guideways
The name telescopic rail says it all about the function of these rails. With these models, the moving part can be extended telescopically over the actual length of the rail. This is the decisive difference to linear guides. With a linear guide, the moving element, also known as the carriage, moves exclusively within the fixed rail element.
Accordingly, telescopic slides are more flexible and versatile. However, when choosing the right telescopic runner, it is important to consider how far the drawer or anything that is pulled out should actually be able to be pulled out. Accordingly, a telescopic runner with partial extension, full extension or over-extension can be considered.

The differences between these three types of pull-out are to be found in how far the telescopic runners can be extended. This means that when selecting the right runner, it is decided how accessible the element to be pulled out, for example the drawer, should ultimately be.
What is the difference between partial, full and over-extension?
Part-extract
With a partial pull-out, one third of the element to be pulled out remains in the cabinet or the respective carcase. A partial extension is always a good choice when there is not much space available.
To be able to pull out the drawer or if it is generally not necessary to have access to the entire unit. Around 75% of the unit can be pulled out with a partial pull-out.
Full-extract
With a telescopic runner with full extension, the movable element can be pulled out completely. This makes the entire contents of a drawer or other element easily accessible.
A full-extension runner can therefore be pulled out 100%.
Overextract
However, sometimes a full-extension runner is not enough. There are many areas of application in which this is the case, for example if an element has been placed above the pull-out that restricts access to the drawer. Even if the drawer is fully extended, the entire contents cannot be reached without problems. Over-extension runners are the best solution for these applications. They can be pulled out slightly beyond the actual length of the telescopic runner. An over-extension runner can be pulled out to 100 % +.

Differences in design and weight
It is usually easy to tell whether it is a telescopic runner with a partial extension or whether a full or over-extension runner has been used. Telescopic runners with full or over-extension runners can be recognized by the fact that an intermediate element has been installed in addition to the usual outer and inner runner elements. This is not the case with telescopic runners with partial extension. Accordingly, these models are somewhat lighter and take up less space in terms of depth.
Telescopic slides with different load capacities
All telescopic slides have a different load capacity. When choosing the right telescopic runners, it is therefore not only necessary to decide on the type of runner, it is also important to pay attention to how high the maximum load capacity is. It is not only necessary to consider how much weight the drawer or the respective element should carry, but also the weight of the element itself. It is generally advisable to choose a high load class. This means that heavier items can be stored in the unit at a later date.
Softclose and Push to Open - interesting additional functions
There are some interesting additional functions that telescopic runners can be equipped with. The most important of these include Softclose and Push to Open. Both functions are now well known to many people. Softclose, also often referred to as soft closing, is now almost standard. When the drawer is closed, this function ensures that it is pulled in very gently and quietly over the last few centimeters. As a result, drawers no longer protrude and it is no longer possible for them to bang. Telescopic runners with a soft-close function are particularly popular in households with small children.
Drawers often no longer have the typical handles. These drawers are then opened simply by tapping them. Telescopic runners equipped with so-called push-to-open technology allow a drawer to be opened simply by tapping it. This triggers a mechanism that pushes the drawer out of the cabinet. It can then simply be gripped at the side or top and pulled out completely.
Telescopic runners with various pull-outs for all applications
Telescopic runners make it much easier to operate elements such as drawers. The higher the quality of the runners, the more resilient and easier to operate they are. There are many areas of application in which telescopic runners with over-extension are necessary because otherwise the contents of a drawer cannot be reached easily.
In other areas, a telescopic runner with partial extension is the best choice because there is simply not enough space available to pull the drawer out further. Thanks to the different types of extension, telescopic runners are particularly flexible and can be used in all areas.
